Map Cut Outs :)

Matthew Picton  is a London-born artist who is fascinated by maps of city grids. Through his work, you can visit major cities throughout the world — from Shanghai to Chicago. Picton can even take you back in time to, say, Moscow in 1808 or Baghdad in 1943. In his newest series, he has constructed maps from texts referencing their place — “Venice” consists of cut-paper excerpts of Thomas Mann’s “Death in Venice,” while “Dublin” is made of James Joyce’s “Ulysses.

I printed off 2 pictures of a map of Limerick City and New York city, and I cut out all the spaces where the buildings are so that all was left was the roads, then I spray painted the maps on to acetate and paper in a few different colours

Building from cardboard!

I started building a model of the houses from cardboard using masking tape and superglue then I covered the masking tape over in paper mache and spray painted it white and then painted the drips on to it.
